TIP has hosted community outreach clinics since 2016, and helped over 2000 dogs and their owners.

What are Heartworms?

  • Heartworms are a serious & potentially fatal disease caused by foot long worms that live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessel

  • Heartworms are transmitted by mosquitoes

  • Dog should be tested annually for heartworms

  • Heartworm disease is nearly 100% preventable. We can help!

Heartworm & Flea Prevention Clinics

We love our monthly pop-up clinics at local pet stores, firehouses etc. where we help pet owners who don’t have a choice of a veterinarian or The Inner Pup: it is TIP or nothing.

Together we will end Heartworm Disease.

Learn how to start your own Heartworm Zero clinic.

Heartworm Treatment

It breaks our heart to tell a client his dog tests positive for Heartworm Disease. Traditional treatment cost well over a thousand dollars. The Inner Pup uses an alternative, much lower cost protocol to treat. It only takes one mosquito to infect a dog with Heartworm Disease. Need treatment? Email us at info@theinnerpup.org to get started!

All Heart. No Worms.

Wellness Clinics

The Inner Pup works with partners to provide low cost, even free veterinary care for low income pet owners. We help relieve the stress pet owners feel when they see their pets suffering and they can’t help. The best relationships between people and pets happen when the needs of the owners and their pets are met.

Homeless Outreach

Our clinics are low-cost, but not free for clients. However, we are happy to waive the cost of prevention for anyone who is unhoused. We know that money does not equal love. For homeless persons with pets that need more help, we offer an annual wellness clinic specifically for families who are unhoused.

“Thank you for being there for us seniors who could not have our fur babies without your help. I am 78, live alone and on a fixed income. the company & love of my "Mandy Moo" is the best gift in the world. Thank you.”

Lagniappe

(that’s New Orleans for a little something extra)

It’s not all about heartworms. We are grateful to our sponsors and in-kind donors who enrich the lives of pets & their people.
It’s all about love.

Volunteer

Our TIP team, meaning our Board, and our volunteers share our values of non judgment, compassion and respect.

There are so many ways to be part of TIP. We are always looking for veterinarians, veterinary helpers, neighborhood ambassadors, and other dog lovers. If you have a skill and a passion for people and pets, we probably have a place for you.

“Thank God for you all helping us out. Without you so many dogs would have heartworms. No matter how much you love your dog, sometimes the realities of life happen, you lose your job, you get old on a fixed income, your new baby has a lot of health problems.........Thank you for caring, we need you so much!”
