Pets and Hurricanes

Hello friends and fellow pet parents! We know how important it is to keep our fur children safe and happy. So, in our second blog post of this Hurricane Hell series, we'll share some fun and informative tips to make sheltering in place with your pets during a storm the best it can be. The first blog post was about how to prepare for a weather emergency, and the final blog post will be about making evacuating with your pets as painless as possible!

First thing, stock up on essentials. Make sure you have non-perishable food, water, flashlights, and a radio. And remember extra food, water, cat litter, and plenty of pet treats and toys.

Next, prepare a pet emergency kit. Have enough medications, like heartworm prevention and flea treatments, and attach an up-to-date ID tag to your pet's collar. Remember their favorite blanket or toy for some extra comfort.

Now, let's talk about their emotional well-being. Create a cozy space for your pets with blankets and an old t-shirt that smells like you. Act silly, play games, and remember the extra cuddles belly rubs, and hugs will help them feel secure inside despite the storm out the window. It may help calm you down too!

Sheltering in place with your pets during a storm can be tough, but with preparation, humor, and love, it can be fun. Remember, we're here to weather any storm together and keep our fur babies happy and safe!

Stay dry, stay safe, and keep those tails wagging!
